I am jumping my bike and when it cranks it makes a strange noise and as far as I can tell the piston and valve train are sitting still, yet it still cranks. I took the left side cover off and turned it over manually and the piston and valve train work, and I have good compression. I am thinking that perhaps my valve compression release my not be functioning correctly and my starter does not have the strenth to turn the engine over. Does the motor have some sort of a bypass or something that would allow the starter to crank the starter drive gear without actually engaging the crank and piston??? Somebody help please.
